cats and shapely ladies

We really need to start adding some interest to our walls, but I have an irrational fear of clutter, so I'm really picky about what goes up. I love cool things that people make versus mass-produced trendy decor found at, say, Target. Don't get me wrong, I luvs me some Target, but my love has its limits.

Last night we went to a craft show at the Young Blood Gallery & Boutique. Becky and Aitor were selling their wares, so we decided to drop by for a look-see. I love everything in the place, and the folks there for the craft show had some wonderful goodies. We purchased a few of Aitor's pieces (see previous post), and we got a few more gems from the other folks.

Matt bought this "Loss Cat" mirror by R Land. Loss Cat is one of my all-time favorite works of art EVER.

And yet another cat. I found this little critter at a thrift shop in Florida. Cute, sad, and creepy...just the way I like it. His name is Norman.

I really dig this "Figure Types" piece. I wish I could give credit to the artist or have a website link, but I realized that it doesn't have any artist ID on it. Sigh. The sizes listed under the ladies range from plus-size to junior, yet they all look the same to me. Oh, and they're also unified by their complete lack of arms.

Support artists by buying their art, please! And if you haven't checked out the website Etsy, you should do it and then thank me and then chastise me for making your money disappear.

wish i could've gotten to that on thurs. bought some becky buttons at dad's last night, though. we have a "lost episode" of simpson and snatch centering around Loss Cat. i think leslie could never bring herself to do the editing. we'll have to finish that one day.

and yes, i wish more artists of all kinds could make a living creating their art. a discussion for the ages. but as we all know, "if wishes and buts were clusters of nuts, we'd all have a bowl of granola."

OMG - Michael gave me an awesome Loss
Cat for Christmas!

It's just plain ole black on a white board.

I love Speckles.

evita - my favorite part is "foam".

becky - my new year's resolution for 2009 will be to forgive you for the virus of 2008. and i think "sinusitis becky" sounds better than typhoid mary anyways.

Foam - yes! I wonder how many calls poor Ward has received over these many years.
